I made this for my wife's birthday dinner. Wow! This was very flavorful ... lots of flavor for not a lot of work. I used Balducci's Quebec Steak Seasoning. I'm not sure if this is different from Montreal steak seasoning, but I'm not sure it would have made much difference ... most of the flavor is from the jalapenos and the soy sauce. I used Certified Angus Beef prime fillet, which was very tender and took up the flavors of the marinade well. I highly recommend this recipe.
Loved it, and didn't even make the marinade correctly (not enough soy sauce). Couldn't find Montreal seasonings so just bought generic Chicago style steak seasoning and it worked fine, seemed to have a similar herb/spice profile.
