At this time of year, we drink more Champagne than usual. And while we love a glass of good bubbly, we also like to mix it up with easy additions that look festive and taste great, too. Here are some of our faves; best of all, you don’t need (nor would you want) a pricey bottle to make them.

Senior editor Denise Mickelsen keeps it classic with a sugar cube at the bottom of her glass and a few dashes of bitters on top. Lemon twist optional.

Our test kitchen manager, Juli Roberts, likes to celebrate by adding a scoop of blood orange sorbet and a little mint leaf to her Champagne coupe.

Because it brings back fond memories of her dad, editor Jennifer Armentrout likes to add a little crème de cassis to make a retro Kir royale.
