Refreshing watermelon: As fun to drink as it is to eat, as long as you get the seeds out first. Today’s watermelon cocktail recipe comes from a San Francisco bartender, H. Joseph Ehrmann, owner of the bar Elixir.

The recipe calls for cucumber vodka, but Ehrmann says it can also be mixed with blanco tequila, cachaca, or pisco. Or it can be made with no alcohol at all (see the second recipe).

The Whatamelon
By H Joseph Ehrmann, Elixir

1.5 fl. oz. Square One Cucumber Organic Vodka

1 fl. oz. St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
2 fl. oz. Watermelon Juice or 5, 1-inch Watermelon Cubes
6 Mint Leaves
.5 fl. oz. Lime Juice
.5 fl. oz. Agave Nectar

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and ingredients, shake well for 10 seconds and strain over fresh ice. Garnish with a sprig of mint.
