Look closely the next time you’re in the canned tomato section at the supermarket, and you should see a new product tucked in among all the other cans. “Petite” diced tomatoes are a great choice when regular canned diced tomatoes are too large. They were the perfect solution for two recipes Mexican Tomato Rice & Beans and Sear-Roasted Chicken with Tomato & Red Wine Sauce—where regular diced tomatoes seemed too big and horsey. Most of the major tomato processors, like Del  Monte and Contadina, offer petite diced tomatoes.
