Everybody loves a classic. That’s how traditional holiday dishes like bread stuffing; mashed potatoes; creamed onions; green bean casserole; sweet potato casserole (yes, with gooey marshmallows on top) and apple, pecan, and pumpkin pies reach their classic status. Something about the holiday meal seems off if one of these dishes doesn’t make an appearance (and then a very swift disappearance, of course).
But, who doesn’t want to step it up a notch for the holiday meal? In this challenge, we’re inviting you to do just that. Be inspired by the tried and true recipes that have graced holiday tables for years and update your classic spread with dishes that give a nod to the classics they’re based on—thus, pleasing the crowd—while simultaneously allowing you to serve up some imagination. Who knows? Your update could become the new holiday must-make favorite.
