I fell in love with this simple wooden tool the minute I saw it. Handsomely crafted of cherry, oak, maple, or walnut, the “one-hand salad server” is really a multi-purpose pair of tongs with the unique ability to store flat, thanks to a clever hinge. Flip the arms open, and a spring creates a nice easy tension for grasping salad greens, pasta, or even food out of the sauté pan (especially nice for nonstick cookware). Pivot one arm 360 degrees, and the server stores absolutely flat.

Made by ShortCutt Woodcraft, the server is available at gourmet stores and craft shows for $15.95. Or order from Porterhouse Crafts.
