Humboldt Fog, in all its glory

If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have ONE food to eat, day in and day out, what would it be?  Obviously, this is not a question of survival or prolonged good health but rather, what’s that one flavorful food that you can’t imagine living without?

For me, there’s no question — my desert island food is cheese.  And not just any cheese, but my all-time favorite goat cheese, Humboldt Fog.  Have you ever tried it?  A friend introduced me to it years ago (thanks, Kayla!), and despite enjoying many, many delicious cheeses since then, Humboldt Fog has been at the top of my list since that first taste.

It’s a soft-ripened goat cheese with a ribbon of edible vegetable ash running through its center and under its thin white skin. It’s dense, super creamy, and tangy, and even if my island was hot and dry and sandy, I’d still want to eat this cheese every day. It’s that good. Granted, on my ideal island there would also be fresh grapes and figs, honey, and cool, crisp white wine to go with the cheese… but stranded beggars can’t be choosers.

What would you want to eat on your desert island?  Fish or fowl?  Fruit or veggies?  Cheese or…?

Why hasn't anyone said that they could not live without pizza, the world's most perfect food? It has all the necessary food groups - dairy, vegetables, carbs, fat, and yumminess. That would be all I would need to eat on a desert island as long as I could get it thin crust and crispy.

I WOULD HAVE TO SAY SOUTHERN TEXAS FRIED SHRIMP, CAN'T GO WITH OUT SEAFOOD ON AN ISLAND. NOT SURE HOW TO COOK THEM, CAN ALWAYS EAT THEM RAW IF NEEDED. BUT I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE WITH THE CHOCOLATE TURTLES, CHOCOLATE IS A MUST.
