What is it?

Blackberries are “aggregate” fruits, meaning that one berry is not one fruit, but rather a cluster of small fruits called “drupes.” When ripe, their skin is delicate, shiny and black (if they are reddish, they are not ripe yet) and unlike raspberries, which are hollow in the center, blackberries have a tiny white core. At the market, look for berries without stems, because stems indicate that they were picked before ripening, and they do not get sweeter off the bush.
