The classic pairing of chocolate and orange made this ice cream so delicious.
Starting with David Lebovitz's basic ice cream recipe, I infused orange zest into the custard. This gave it a lovely mild orange flavor that you barely noticed but knew there was something special in the custard. Then, I melted dark chocolate (72%) and added it to the custard with dutch processed cocoa. When the custard cooled I added some orange juice to it to pump up the orange flavor.
This ice cream is creamy, delicious and elegant. I can't wait to serve with dessert at our next dinner party.
