Drinking my way through Tales of the Cocktail

The Apple Jack, ready to imbibe

The Apple Jack, ready to imbibe

  • The Apple Jack, ready to imbibe
  • Is Jack counter-surfing again? Of course he is!

As editor of Fine Cooking's Drinks column, I am heading down to New Orleans tomorrow to attend Tales of the Cocktail, where top mixologists, bartenders, authors, chefs, and cocktail enthusiasts gather together to celebrate "the history and the craft of the cocktail."  Yes, please!  Aside from the heat and humidity I am expecting in New Orleans, I am getting pretty darn excited.

So, in honor of Tales, I'll be bringing you a Cocktail of the Day: at least one (and hopefully more) cocktail recipe each day while I am in New Orleans. Come back each day for links to the daily cocktails. To kick it off, here's  a drink I created at home in honor of our mutt, Jack: The Apple Jack

Day Zero: The Apple Jack

Day One:  Vieux Carré

Day One: El Senor

Day Two: The Swag Bag

Day Three: Black Orchid
