If you live in Connecticut or New York and plan on making a donation to the World Food Programme to help the victims of Haiti’s devastating earthquake, why not do some good, sample come Caribbean food, and add to your cookbook collection at the same time?

Organized and hosted by food writer, cookbook author and chef, Ramin Ganeshram, the Food 4 Haiti event in Westport, CT, is a food festival, cookbook auction, and bake sale to benefit the World Food Programme’s relief efforts in Haiti. Ramin’s cookbook, Sweet Hands: Island Cooking from Trinidad & Tobago, is among the cookbooks up for auction.

The Food Network’s Daisy Martinez is the event’s emcee. In addition to auctioning off signed copies of her new cookbook, Daisy is also auctioning a dinner for four, with her, at Don Coqui restaurant in New York. (I know, you were secretly hoping she’d invite you over to her house for Sunday dinner).

More than 40 cookbook authors have donated books to sell at the event. Signed books up for auction include:

Julie & Julia, by Julie Powell
Fish Without a Doubt, by Bravo’s Top Chef Masters contestant Rick Moonen
New York Cookbook, by New York Times food writer Molly O'Neill
The Legal Sea Foods Cookbook, signed by its illustrator (also illustrator/cartoonist of The New Yorker), Ed Koren
Daisy: Morning, Noon & Night, by Daisy Martinez
Absolutely Chocolate, by the editors of Fine Cooking magazine

Food 4 Haiti will also hold a bake sale and a children's book sale.

The event takes place on Saturday, January 30, from 10:30 am - 4:00 pm at Hoskins Hall, Saugatuck Congregational Church, in Westport, CT.
