Welcome to Homegrown/Homemade. I'm a cook who needs some help in the garden and Fine Gardening's Danielle Sherry is a gardener who needs some help in the kitchen. We've teamed up to show gardeners and cooks of all skill levels how get the most out of their crops from seed to plate. In this series, Danielle and I are planting and cooking with that ubiquitous kitchen staple: potatoes.
Episode One: How to Plant Potatoes
Danielle shows me how to plant my seed potatoes (I'm planting varieties of fingerlings and yukon golds this year) in a raised bed. The "seeds" are actual potatoes we'll cut to the proper size and inspect for eyes, or buds, where our sprouts will come from.
