Cook the Issue 2010: Ice Cream Parfaits with Strawberries and Balasmic Syrup

This got mixed reviews. No kids liked the syrup or the pine nuts, though they loved the berries, and all adults liked the syrup and berries but not the pine nuts.  I think this would be delicious with almonds (maybe toasted in butter) instead of the pine nuts.  It was interesting to taste though!

Pielove writes: Yeah, the lemon cake is a serious investment of cream and eggs too. I love that you don't have to make every single thing in the issue for this contest. Especially because I just priced duck breasts (for the duck with cherry-port sauce) and my local butcher and it was $35 for two!! I'm debating between buying a whole duck and cutting it up and just using a different meat... Posted: 3:56 pm on June 2nd
