Hot on the heels of the cupcake trend (so over), I'm noticing that putting dessert on a stick is creeping up on more and more food blogs. From cookies to cake pops to cheesecake, I thought I had seen it all. Then one of my favorite baking bloggers, Clumbsy Cookie, raised the bar with her Croquembouche on a stick.
I love that she took all the elements of a croquembouche, usually a towering special-occasion centerpeice, and made it something you could take to a picnic. Well, a grown-up picnic. (Althought kids would love these, I'm sure.)
And she explains the creation of this treat so well: Make a cream puff, fill it with pastry cream, put on a stick. She gilds the lilly with her caramel sugar nest, which gives each pop a wild hairdo.
