When I initially set my sights on this Chocolate Red Wine Cake for our "Cooking with Wine" Concert in the Park theme, I did not realize it was on the cover of Indulge: 100 Perfect Desserts, by Claire Clark, former pastry chef at the Thomas Keller's The French Laundry. It was a bit intimidating at first, because I haven't worked with chocolate too much, but the discs were pretty easy to make. There's red wine in the batter and then the entire cake is soaked in a red wine syrup. The cake is then covered with red currant jelly glaze and decorated with chocolate discs. Attention red wine lovers! Make this cake! Also, I think it's the ultimate Valentine's Day cake.
