Cook the Issue 2010: Fried Squash Blossoms

I had given up on making this recipe from Issue 106 when I spied a bag of zucchini blossoms on a roadside produce truck outside my daughter's school.  Score!  These were really delicious-- crispy and rich.  Of course you could probably fry a piece of cardboard in this batter and it would be delicious-- and the recipe makes a LOT of batter, so have your cardboard (or fish, or string beans, etc.) ready.  I tried a few leaves of Tuscan kale-- that was okay too.  Speaking of the batter, I didn't have any seltzer so, figuring that tonic water was a bad idea, I used a can of beer instead.
