Cook the Issue 2010: Dried peppers

I never have enough morels around to dry, so when I saw the article in Issue 104 on dried morels, I sighed and moved on to other recipes.  Now, inundated with lots of really tasty but also super-hot peppers (Hot Paper Lantern, from Johnny's Select Seeds), I remembered the drying method (after all, the peppers kind of look like morels, despite being from a different kingdom!) and decided to give it a try.  Instead of piercing the stem, I just tied the dental floss around the peppers and hung them from the light switch in the porch, where they sort of look like pepper lights-- but the real thing!

ICDOCEAN1 writes: I'll have to post a picture of what is always drying out in my kitchen, peppers of course. I buy tons of jalapenos and the like especially to enjoy all year long. There is often a bowl of the peppers that have been fried in olive oil on the table, not too many takers, but I love them and the oil is great for bread dunking. This is so Italian!
