This cake was a HUGE hit at my Dad's birthday party this afternoon. Everybody loved it, kids and adults. One person thought it was too a little sweet, but everyone else loved it. I made double the amount of frosting and triple the amount of nut praline. I did not use all of either, but I have the leftover praline for snacks and I did use some of the extra frosting to help make the cake look as pretty as possible. I did a skim coat of frosting, chilled, and then added a finishing layer. I am not a great froster so this helped with some of the crumbs. The brown butter flavor in the frosting was just fantastic! I am glad I made the effort to make this beautiful cake for my Dad's birthday--he appreciated it very much.
