Classic desserts like crème brûlée or chocolate mousse are timeless because they hit all the right dessert notes: well balanced flavors, rich, interesting textures, and elegant presentations. So, why not take inspiration from these classics to make festive holiday cookies?

We've taken six crowd-pleasing classic desserts—Sacher Torte, Crêpes Suzette, Cherries Jubilee, Chocolate Mousse, Crème Brûlée, and Lemon Meringue Pie—and created a wide variety of intriguing cookies that riff off their flavors, textures and appearance. These new cookies will breathe new life into your holiday cookie repertoire and savor the best of both worlds—classic desserts and cookies. In fact, you'll probably enjoy these recipes year-round.

Dessert in a Cookie Contest
The Dessert in a Cookie idea was so fun, we had to make a contest out of it. Get inspired to create your own dessert cookie, and share your recipe with us for a chance to win a prize package worth more than $300.

The Inspirations

The Sacher Torte—chocolate sponge cake layered with apricot jam and covered in dark chocolate icing—becomes cakey cookies filled with preserves and dipped in bittersweet chocolate.

Bursting with vanilla flavor, Crème Brûlée Cookies sport the burnt-sugar topping of their namesake.

Here, Cherries Jubilee—sweet cherries in a spiked syrup over vanilla ice cream—becomes biscotti with dried cherries, toasted almonds, and white chocolate.

The Inspirations

Lemon Meringue Pie is always a showstopper. In the cookie version, crisp meringue buttons (the meringue) are sprinkled with gingersnap crumbs (the crust) and sandwiched around a vibrant lemon curd (the filling).

Like any good Mousse, the Dark Chocolate Thumbprints are all about the chocolate. The dough has both cocoa and bittersweet chocolate, and the ganache filling is rich and dark.

Citrus cookies with a Grand Marnier glaze take their cue from Crêpes Suzette, the classic dessert of flambéed crêpes and boozy orange sauce.
