Cook the Issue 2010: Elephant Ears
comments (2) November 27th, 2010 in GalleryThis recipe is part of a video that is one of the online extras for Issue 108, accompanying the cookie article. Although it is well-hidden on the "Current Issue" page, it has a few real gems, including the Nutella Brownies recipe that I can't wait to try. In the meantime, I had one sheet of puff pastry left over from the blueberry-cream cheese hand pies from so long ago, so I decided to give this recipe a whirl. The video is great-- Abby Dodge does such a lovel job teaching how to make this, which makes it super-easy. Also, the recipes in the video are from her four-ingredient dessert cookbook, adding to the easiness!
Not only are these cookies easy to make, they also taste great-- and I used the cheapo supermarket puff pastry-- with real butter pastry, or better yet homemade (I wish I hadn't wasted all mine wrapping those hot dogs!), these would be really good. The caramelized sugar, crunchy puff pastry, and orange zest make for a great combination.
