Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, starts tonight at sundown. I think this celebration has one of the best culinary traditions of any holiday: fried foods, like latkes and donuts.  If you're feeling inspired to make your own donuts this year, this family recipe for the Spanish donuts known as buñuelos (a.k.a. bimuelos), from Michael Natkin of the vegetarian blog Herbivoracious, looks delicious and dead easy to make.

AZZenny writes: Why do that, when you can make sufganiyot, the traditional Israeli Hanukkah delight? What could be better than still-warm little donuts filled with black raspberry or strawberry jam and rolled in powdered sugar? Posted: 10:21 pm on December 1st
