Today's Inspiration: Imperfect Marble Cake

Today I read the most recent post on Bruce Weinstein’s and Mark Scarbrough’s Real Food Has Curves and understood more about why these guys really have it goin’ on. It’s not just Real Food Mark advocates for, but Real Everything. His advice to food bloggers and people in the biz: Be real. It pays off.

That leads me to Bridget from The Way the Cookie Crumbles and her experiment with Chocolate-Coffee Marble Loaf Cake. First, Bridget admits, rather frankly, that she was in the mood for cake batter. Not cake (which she says she deserved) but cake batter. I thought I was the only one.
Then Bridget makes an endearing confession: she’s glad she helped herself to the batter because the finished cake was dry. I would have welcomed a taste test, but alas, I’m here, she’s there.

Super-produced food blogs have their place, but give me a real home cook detailing her real misadventures in the kitchen any day. Fortunately or unfortunately, an imperfect yet tenacious cook is one I can relate to and one I continue to be inspired by. Thanks, Bridget.
