A Fall-Forward Cocktail
comments (0) December 2nd, 2011 in BlogsFair warning: This cocktail contains several ingredients not found in every home bar, so you may have to do some shopping.
Genever is the ancestor to gin that tastes malty, like unaged whisky. It provides a strong base and background notes to this drink.
Allspice dram is an allspice liqueur. You might be able to substitute a homemade allspice syrup fortified with brandy for this if you want to get creative at home. Allspice liqueur lends the fall flavors of mulled wine to the cocktail.
Domaine de Canton is a ginger liqueur. You could substitute the new brand The King's Ginger for this, or again try fortifying a ginger syrup with brandy. The ginger brings the spicy heat to this drink, making it a winter warmer that's served cold.
The name of the drink comes from coincidence: my friends were talking about football when I created it.
