Update: Thanks for all your comments, pie lovers. Jmmm, asaieh9, beccaporter, and kuchenbaaker are the lucky winners of our special issue Pies, Crisps & Cobblers (check your inboxes, folks). Congrats!

It’s true. Math was never my forte. But, I still celebrate Pi Day every March 14, because it’s one of the tastiest holidays ever invented (thanks, Math Geeks. . .you guys are alright!). To some, March 14 is a chance to give a nod to the mathematical constant 3.14159265.

To me and you, it’s a chance to bake and eat pie.

It’s also a chance to win Fine Cooking’s special issue devoted to this beloved dessert. Leave a comment below (nothing math-related, please) about your favorite pies, sweet or savory—YES, pizza is considered an acceptable way to celebrate Pi Day—and on March 14 at 3:14 pm EDT, I’ll pick 3.14 lucky winners to receive a free copy of Fine Cooking’s Pies, Crisps & Cobblers. Better still, I’ll round up to 4 winners even though I know I’m supposed to round down in Pi’s case. See, I told you I was never good at math.

Need some inspiration? View our slideshow to get the recipes for some of our favorite sweet pies for Pi/Pie Day.

I love that you can make a pie with whatever you have on hand, whether savory or sweet. I love the combination of pears and apples best, especially for fall. But nothing says summer like fresh strawberry and rhubarb. Thanks for pie! Posted: 10:01 am on March 14th

NJMomCooks writes: Everything I love about pie begins & ends with my grandmother. She raised me & it was her love of baking that ignited my passion for the culinary arts. When I was really little, I remember being in the kitchen with her, "helping" her bake. She made hands down the BEST pie crust. She must have told me 10000 times how to make it, but I never did learn & I regret it.

My favorites were her tangy, creamy lemon merengue pie with it's tall fluffy merengue and her delicious apple pies. She'd soak her apples in sugar & spices before baking. I'd constantly be sneaking in the fridge eating them. She passed away 6 years ago & I still miss her every day. Every time I have a piece of pie, I know I'll never taste one as good as hers =) Posted: 8:54 am on March 14th

worldtable writes: I love Banana Cream Pie, and one of my favorite tricks to give it more banana flavor than by just adding sliced bananas, is to infuse the milk and cream with a couple of ripe mashed bananas for about an hour. Drain the mashed bananas and discard. Make sure you still have enough milk/cream before making the recipe and measure one more time. This makes the most amazing pie... Posted: 8:45 am on March 14th

It was a simple pie but the sweet taste along with the nuttiness of the roasted pignoli nuts and the just perfect buttery crust made this pie stand out more than any other pies we had over the years including apple and pumpkin, etc....Ah ah Heavenly good with a cup of freshly made brewed coffee!
