The two main reasons I wish I lived in San Francisco: Kris Hoogerhyde and Anne Walker. Kris and Anne are the founders of the Bi-Rite Creamery, where they make everything—and I mean everything—from scratch, and the line for their small-batch ice creams stretches down 18th Street.
Thanks to their new book (penned with former FC staffer Dabney Gough) anyone can make Bi-Rite’s most coveted flavors: Honey Lavender, Brown Butter Pecan, Salted Caramel, Balsamic Strawberry. They’re all there, along with recipes for their cones, cakes, cookies, and candy mix-ins. It’s a good thing, too. San Fran is a long way from Fine Cooking headquarters.
We’re delighted to feature Kris and Anne as the special guests on Fine Cooking’s Facebook page Thursday, June 28 from 3:00 – 4:00 EST. If you believe owning an ice cream maker is more essential than an air conditioner, you’ll want to dish with Kris and Anne.
