Cherries and almonds go hand-in-hand. Much like tomatoes and basil, lemon and seafood and peanut butter and jelly, these are two ingredients that just can't get enough of each other. And we can't get enough of them. That's why I love these Cherry-Almond Streusel Muffins from Cheri of Kitchen Simplicity.

These muffins highlight the beautiful, sweet cherries that are at the peak of their season right now. The cinnamon-spiked cherry filling is nestled between layers of fluffy, almond-scented muffin. They're sprinkled with sweet and crumbly streusel topping and chopped almonds for the perfect summer cherry treat.

As Cheri says, you can wrap them individually and freeze them. Take one out the night before and you'll have a delectable cherry-filled muffin to help that morning coffee go down even smoother. Check out Kitchen Simplicity for more simple and seasonal recipes.
