Whisky Highballs

Whisky Highballs

This Sunday August 5th in San Francisco, your friendly Fine Cooking cocktail blogger Camper English and Senior Editor Denise Mickelsen will be hosting a seminar on aperitif cocktails.

Some cocktails that could be considered aperitifs that I've written about here include the Aperol Spritz, this Grapefruit Sake Spritzer, and this Vermouth Spritzer. Aperitifs are typically low in alcohol, often bubbly, and sometimes bitter to prime the palate for food.

In the seminar we'll be tasting three aperitif cocktails. They are the Negroni Sbagliato, a Japanese Whisky Highball, and a champagne-enhanced version of the Chrysanthemum

I hope you can join us. More information is below.

Join Fine Cooking's Senior Editor Denise Mickelsen, cocktail blogger Camper English, and bar stars Neyah White and Brooke Arthur for a pre-tent palate priming. We'll discuss (and taste!) a delicious category of drinks that many Americans are unaware or wary of-aperitifs. These light, low-impact, before-dinner drinks are just the thing to prepare your taste buds for a full day of tasting. Don't miss this lively discussion about what makes a great aperitif and which bars in San Francisco offer the best examples. Attendees will leave with a new understanding of aperitifs, some recipes to try out at home and a roaring appetite ready for San Francisco's finest food.
