Young Married Chic is a food, home, lifestyle and travel blog geared towards young women looking for a resource on all things domestic. Kris grew up in Virginia, where she learned the basics in the kitchen from her mother and grandmother. She got out of college thinking of a career in fashion PR, but quickly realized that her love for food outweighed much else. Since then, she's been using YMC as an outlet for all her kitchen creativity and has even co-published a book called A Taste of Virginia Tech, which features recipes from some of the top eateries around her Alma Mater's campus.

Back at home, Kris comes up with smart, simple recipes to keep you feeling energized and ready to take on your day. Her Fit Chic Power Lunch post is for all you food lovers out there who tend to grab something on-the-go for lunch instead of brown bagging it. Obviously we all know packing your own lunch is cheaper and much healthier, but who has the time, right?

Wrong.

With a little bit of planning ahead, you can whip up quick, tasty lunches like Salmon Pitas with Yogurt Dill Sauce and Tandoori Chicken Skewers. Kris even shows you how to re-use all those plastic take-out containers you've insisted on saving. Throw some steamed veggies and a lean protein in there with the seasonings of your choice and you've got the quintessential YMC meal-to-go right in the palm of your hand, ready to be reheated at any time during your crazy day.

Stop paying extra for a fattening takeout lunch and start whipping up some of these healthy treats today. You'll start looking at your lunch break with a whole new twinkle in your eye.
