Win Abby Dodge's Must-Have Baking Tools

At four years old, Abby Dodge baked cake after cake in her light-bulb-powered Easy Bake oven. Anyone who knows her from her many recipes in Fine Cooking knows she's still a prolific baker, but now Abby uses more sophisticated equipment to create her irresistible desserts--her absolute favorite: KitchenAid's 7-quart Bowl Lift NSF Commercial Stand Mixer. She believes every baker should have one, so here's your chance to snag one free, along with some other must-haves on Abby's list.

To win Abby's must-have baking tools, simply leave a comment below. On Monday, December 17, I'll pick a comment at random, and the lucky winner will have his or her prize pack in time for this year's cookie swap. (Now closed)

Update: Congratulations to lobsterwoman. Her comment was picked at random and she's the lucky winner of this giveaway. Thanks to all who posted a comment!

Turns out it's a small world... although I've never even heard of Fine Cooking before today, I see the address is in Newtown, CT... the town I live in! :) I have had 2 "substitute" Kitchen Aid mixers, can't afford the real McCoy, after paying the taxes on the home my dad left me here in town, not much is left. Still, it is my greatest pleasure in life to cook gourmet meals and serve to any/everyone who will eat. Appetizers thru Desserts, all are made easier with a good mixer set, and you are offering not only, good, but THE BEST!
Amazing blog, I'll be back frequently now! Thanks:)

Curves writes: In 2004 I thought my life was over when my husband and I split up. We put our house on the market and I got to work clearing out my house of everything that wouldn’t fit in a small one-bedroom apartment, including my older model Kitchen Aid mixer with all the attachments. I replaced it with a smaller mixer that would fit in my cupboard and wasn’t too heavy to lift out when I needed it. Then an old friend and I “found” each other and before I knew it I was engaged to be married and my new life began. We ran away to San Francisco to get married – less fuss for all concerned, and no need for expensive wedding gifts. Now my life is full and I have a large kitchen where I can indulge my re-kindled love of everything kitcheny, including baking. My small mixer is ok but I yearn for my old Kitchen Aid. It would be wonderful to be able to re-stock my baking cupboard with new tools. Merry Christmas!! Posted: 9:45 pm on December 13th

mikkianderson writes: Abby if these are your favorite things I just know I would love to bake in your kitchen. I frequently stop by my local kitchen store and try and narrow down what I would make first if I ever was able to buy this beauty which is highly unlikely, but a girl can dream right?!?! I have never been able to afford a stand mixer, I have a little hand-held that was my grandmothers and for small things it does the job but oh how great it would be to have a really great mixer. Thanks for chance to try and win one for my own kitchen!

quallslvon writes: Thanks for offering these kitchen tools. I have had my eye on this larger mixer ever since it hit the market. I was given a 4 quart Kitchenaid mixer by my in-laws when my husband and I got married in 1980. We lived in England for 10 years and I insisted on taking it and running it off of a power converter. I've always said I wish I had an odometer on my mixer. I have used it nearly everyday through the years. I recently started my own small catering company and will probably need to upgrade to this larger model eventually. How exciting it would be to win one! Thanks again. Posted: 7:09 pm on November 2nd

Gosh, love the john boos cart.
(with all the lovely baking equipment on it would even be better =) lol). Wishful thinking =)

Another thing that might make a wonderful addition to your kitchen is a pegboard. I have one in my condo and most of my baking utensils are on hung on it. Maximizes the space if you love to bake and don't have much room in the kitchen.

When is the draw date for the contest? (nevermind found it)

Happy Baking

Drbabs writes: Abby is my hero! About a year ago, I joined her home baking group #baketogether, and I have learned so much from her about baking, cooking and creating ccommunity. She gently nags us to start cooking blogs. I'm not much of a writer and I don't have a lot of free time, so I've resisted, but she did feature one of my variations to her recipe on her website, and that made me feel so honored and appreciated. Every month I learn new tips and tricks that make my baking better and my life sweeter. Thank you, Abby! XO Posted: 5:33 am on October 10th

DeniseWaghorn writes: Wow, would this be a great way to herald the holidays! I can see why these are Abby's must-have baking tools. Of course the mixer is amazing, but the rolling pin with rings sure would help with rolling out consistent sugar cookies, and that scale would allow for measuring by weight, not volume. Hope your holidays are happy, and that you pick me! Thanks for the opportunity. Posted: 3:02 pm on October 9th
