Amaretto

almond liqueur
what is it?
Hailing from Italy, Amaretto is an Almond flavored liqueur (though it's often made with the kernels of apricot pits as well as almonds). Used in baking to flavor cakes, cookies, icings, and sauces, it's also delicious served over ice cream.
don't have it?
Substitute almond extract, but use a little less as it's more potent.
how to choose:
Disaronno Originale, formerly known as Amaretto Di Saronno, is the most commonly available brand.
how to store:
Kept in a cool, dry place, Amaretto will keep indefinitely.
