A Better Way to Peel a Kiwi

Video Length: 1:10
Produced by: Handmade TV and Sarah Breckenridge

Kiwis make a colorful addition to fruit salads, like Blueberry Fruit Salad with Tequila-Lime Syrup, but they bruise easily if handled too much. To peel one without damaging it, you can use a knife or a peeler, but there's another tool that leaves the peeled fruit smooth and rounded instead of beveled.

To peel a kiwi with a spoon: Slice off both ends with a paring knife. Slide a soup spoon under the skin, and holding the spoon steady, gently turn the kiwi to release it from the skin.
