I had a lot of random leftover ingredients that I was trying to use in…something! I had leftover buttermilk from the buttermilk spice cake, leftover cream cheese frosting from the carrot cake and leftover oranges from all the orange recipes. Viola, Chocolate Waffles with orange and cream cheese frosting!
I decided to experiment with the combination of orange and chocolate. I have had this flavor combo before and I not really enjoyed it in past dishes (like those Chocolate Orange balls –yuck!). This however, was great! Even Steve, who is convinced that chocolate and oranges do not belong together, liked these waffles with the orange slices.
They are best served hot so the cream cheese frosting melts into the crevices in the waffles –yum!
