Re:Bittersweet Chocolate Bark with Marcona Almonds

This is so ridiculously good. We had 28 people for our party and all of them commented on how awesome it was. There wasn't any left after the party! The bark is addictively deep and rich and goes so well with prosecco. We just couldn't get enough of it. For more about the party where we featured this menu, check out cookthestory.wordpress.com

Re:Apple, Fennel, and Cheddar Cheese Straws

I made these one week ahead and froze them on pans as directed in the recipe. I was a bit worried about it but it worked out perfectly. They looked gorgeous and were crisp and light. I agree with the other reviewer that the cheese was masked even though I used a well aged cheddar. Actually, the apple flavor didn't really come through that well either. There was a note of tang but its origin was not as clear as I expected. I did use all of the puree but I wonder if I should have used a sweeter apple. Re:Popcorn with Sweet Butter and Sea Salt

As the evening turned to night, guests gravitated towards this little treat. I wasn't sure how the sugar would work out but it added that little dab of interest. Before the party, we filled little disposable wine glasses with the popped kernels and placed them in groupings on tables around the room.
