This was delicious: Indian style comfort food. But it is really time consuming, and I don't know why it calls for a 300 oven -- it took forever. I think I'll try 350 next time. It is nice ending up with two loaves -- so at least for all the time you put in, you end up with a second dinner in the freezer or to share with friends (we gave our second loaf to a sleep-deprived couple with a new baby.)

I doubled the recipe and used some sliced up butternut squash along with the carrots -- great.

Re:Braised Chicken Legs with Carrot Juice, Dates & Spices

Terrific recipe. My only puzzle was over the Medjool dates. I finally figured out (or at least decided) that given the quantity called for, the recipe must be referring to fresh dates. I substituted dried dates, using a bit more than than the number of prunes mentioned as an alternative. It turned out fantastic.
