Re:Jícama, Avocado, Radish & Orange Salad with Cilantro

Excellent salad, great with Mexican food (e.g., enchiladas). We made this first in the dead of winter and couldn't get jicama, so substituted fennel bulb which worked just fine. I also added a bit of butter lettuce just because I like some 'greens' in my salads.

Re:Pumpkin & Ginger Pound Cake

Excellent recipe....a family favourite and a great replacement for pumpkin pie (yech!).

Re:Beef Stew with Red Wine & Carrots (Daube de Boeuf aux Carottes)

Excellent (and simple, relative to other daube recipes) recipe. I followed the intro. and added parnsips and onions.

Re:Grilled Flank Steak with Cucumber-Yogurt Sauce

I agree with the first reviewer that the marinade is very good but the cucumber relish 'so so'; right idea but I think the recipe is 'off'. Also, I would recommend marinating the steak overnight to tenderize and increase the flavour quotient. Rosemary pan-roasted potatoes made a great side dish.

Re:Chocolate Soufflé Layer Cake with Mascarpone Cream and Raspberries

I am NOT a baker but I made this recipe with my daughter and it turned out very well...perhaps not QUITE as pretty as the picture but it will next time! Really tastes for all the world like Black Forest Cake. Better for sitting in the fridge for a couple of hours after assembly.

Re:Chicken Thighs with Sausage & Braised Fennel

Prep time is a bit long...suitable for an evening at home with just family when time isn't an issue. This is an excellent dish which the whole family loved. I will definitely make again.

Re:Spicy Thai Beef Curry

Excellent dish! Suggest adding juice of one lime to the curry sauce and toss in FRESH sugar snap peas just a few minutes before serving, rather than frozen.

Re:Sweet & Spicy Sticky Chicken

Excellent easy dish with good heat. Agree with recommendation to reduce sugar to 1/3 cup and to double the sauce.
