Re:Miso-Glazed Eggplant

Flavor was outstanding but having made the "oven-roasted eggplant" recipe the night before, the texture wasn't as good. I'll definitely make this again but will salt and drain the eggplant from that recipe first.

Re:Oven-Roasted Eggplant Recipe

Fantastic and so simple. Think eggplant custard! Silky texture is out of this world.

Re:Vegetable-Miso Soup

I wanted this soup to be fantastic... But my husband and I both used the word "weird" when we were eating it. I think maybe we just like traditional miso soup too much. Even 1 tbsp of mirin made this a touch too sweet for us and I did find I had to use longer cooking times at each stage for the veggies to be cooked. Other than extra cooking times, I made it exactly as written.

Re:Spicy Cauliflower Curry

We had this for dinner tonight as a side dish and it was simply amazing. I don't have experience with curry recipes and was quite intrigued with the ingredients. With the exception of swapping currants for raisins, I made the recipe to the letter and we were blown away by the flavors! The cilantro, yogurt, and cashews made it even more better so don't skip the garnishes. If you have a head of cauliflower, you must make this recipe!!

Re:Lobster Bisque

Outstanding! My husband and I made this together. He's been craving lobster so we bought a 3-pounder and made this bisque and some spicy lobster pasta from this month's Bon Appetit. We found the directions a little vague on the body and roe parts and kept re-reading the recipe. Either way, aside from having extra lobster, we followed the directions as best we understood and the bisque is fantastic.

Re:Smoked Salmon and Leek Chowder

Absolutely delicious. I made it exactly as written except I had a little more salmon than was called for. Such a simple recipe... This one is a clear keeper. I even used canned "clam nectar" instead of the usual bottled clam juice as it's what I found at the grocery store I was in in Vancouver, BC. I was a little worried but it was awesome. Make it!

Re:Prosciutto-Wrapped Halibut with Sage Butter Sauce

Outstanding halibut recipe. Hubby and I agree best halibut dinner ever and we've had a lot.

Re:Turkey Soup with Ginger, Lemon & Mint

This soup was outstanding. I, too, made the recipe as written just with somewhat larger quantities. I had been looking for a different turkey soup to make and this totally fit the bill. Refreshing from the lemon juice with a nice ginger jolt. Definite keeper. I will say that I don't think it would be nearly as good without the homemade turkey stock.

Re:Hummus with Mellow Garlic & Cumin

I made this based on the reviews and was not disappointed. This was hands-down the best hummus I have ever made. I followed the recipe to the letter and at the end added more lemon juice and water to thin it a bit. Outstanding cumin flavor and mellowing the garlic this way was genius.

Re:Hot Chocolate Layer Cake with Homemade Marshmallows

All of the reviews are dead on. This is hands-down the best chocolate cake I've ever baked. The layers have all of the best qualities a great cake can offer: moist, dense, and deep chocolate flavor. My only problem was with the frosting. I couldn't get the cocoa powder to completely dissolve so it was a little bit lumpy but still tasted awesome. I followed the reviewer about the Alton Brown marshmallow recipe and made those -- only exception is I added the scrapings from a vanilla bean. I made them two days in advance and they were awesome. And using a pizza cutter to cut them was definitely the way to go. Incredible.
