Re:Cane Vinegar Chicken Stew with Pearl Onions, Oranges, and Spinach

I normally just use apple cider vinegar because it's what I have on hand, and I'm way too lazy to pull off the membranes of the oranges. I've also got to say I don't really think it's worth bothering with fresh pearl onions -- you can cut your fussy prep time in half by just buying frozen ones and it still tastes fantastic. This is a late winter staple for me.

My husband jokes that he decided to marry me after I made this for him one Valentines' day. Pair with a peppery wine and have something chocolate for desert. This was the first thing I ever cooked with Star Anise and I wasn't disappointed.

Re:Grilled Steak and Arugula Salad with White Beans and Shiitake

I've made this with and without the steak and love it either way; the beans and mushrooms make this a plenty-filling main dish even without the meat. The salad is definitely better when the steak is fresh.

A really fun disaster. This took forever to prepare and wasn't tasty enough to be worth making again, but it sure was fun to make with friends. We all agreed that we'd make the recipe but replace the messy and delicate deep-frying with normal poached eggs were we to make it again.

Stupidly easy. Blazingly fast. Plates beautifully. Delicious. This was a major crowd pleaser when I made it for some foodie friends.

I'd never had Romanos but they were delicious. The tapenade was the best part. It is a great contrast to the mild beans. There were no leftovers when I served it at a small dinner party.
