Re:Linguine with Roasted Asparagus and Almond Pesto

Doubled the asparagus. Used my frozen traditional basil pesto and frozen tomato conserva. Added a little hot pepper. Very good with a multigrain pasta

Re:Tex-Mex Beer-Can Chicken

My husband made this Sunday and it was perfect. Used a gas grill and followed directions exactly. I might add a little more heat second time around but other than that, really delicious. Served with a tossed salad and roasted potatoes seasoned with garlic and rosemary.

Re:Five-Spice-Glazed Salmon with Sesame Green Beans

Totally masks the taste of salmon. Overly sweet and cloying. Definitely a one star.

Re:Salmon Niçoise Salad with Kalamata Vinaigrette

Made this for a luncheon grilling the salmon the previous day. It was a huge hit. Served with the zucchini goat cheese tart and a watermelon, feta and oregano salad.

Re:Split Pea Soup

Only OK flavor(even with smoked hamhocks) and very watery.. I compared the ratio of water to split peas found in other recipes I've used with great success. This one calls for between 5 and 7!cups more water than all of them..

Re:Bourbon-and-Vanilla-Brined Pork Chops

One of Fine Cooking's rare misses. Made no changes and brined for the full amount of time.Flavors never blended; simply unacceptable. Would not make again and given the results, unlikely to try other recipes in the article.

Re:Ice Cream Parfaits with Strawberries and Balsamic Syrup

Terrible. Made it twice to be sure I was doing it correctly. On the second go, I reduced it less. Both times, turned hard after cooling. Put it in the microwave for a few seconds for serving. Instantly turned hard when hitting the ice cream.

Re:Grilled Flank Steak with Cucumber-Yogurt Sauce

Marinated overnight. Little flavor and steak was not in the least tenderized. Will not make again
