Re:Baked Apricot French Toast with Crunchy Corn Flake Streusel

Delicious! An easy recipe for the night before prep and it had lovely textures - soft and crunchy along with great flavour. I served on the side greek vanilla yogurt and peach slices. A marriage made in heaven, although it wasn't part of the original recipe. I will most definitely make this again!

Amazing... Made into small tartlets vs a larger tart. This tasted as if it came from a French Patissiere - one of the best dessert recipes on Fine Cooking. Wow...wow...wow.

Re:Chicken Braised with Red Wine Vinegar and Tomatoes

Excellent mid week meal. Full of flavour, simple ingredients and easy to prepare. A keeper recipe, and a real family favourite. I have on occassion added pitted black calamata olives to the sauce, which goes wonderfully with all of the ingredients. I usually serve it over orzo with sauted spinach as the side. Yum!

Just made these for dessert to finish off a lovely dinner party. They were delicious; creamy with just the right amount of tartness from the fresh lemon. Everyone raved. I just love the fact that these can be made a day ahead - perfect for entertaining. My cakes did not have much 'pudding' at the bottom, if any at all, when they were served but they had a wonderful texture. The recipe only made enough for 6 of my ramkins, but the volume of the whipped egg white could be the reason for this outcome. A keeper recipe!

Absolutely delish! The sauce is devine, smooth and full of flavour. Made this exactly as written but only had smaller sized beef short ribs. The Salsa Verde is a must. Our dinner guests loved it. Served it over a creamy polenta. Break out a full bodied red, and celebrate with this gorgeous winter dish. A keeper recipe.

Re:Mango Lassi Parfait

Absolutely Delicious! All my guests raved about this finish to the meal. The cardamon syrup brings this elegant dessert to another level. Simple to prepare, but perfect for any special occassion dinner party. For a texture contrast, I candied the pistachios. I didn't have quite 3Tbs of cardamon pods, so what I did have on hand, I crushed before placing in the syrup to intensify the flavour. A top Fine Cooking recipe!

Re:Pan-Seared Chicken Thighs with Beer and Grainy Mustard Sauce

Also followed this recipe exactly as written and it takes the honour as the first Fine Cooking recipe that was a flop! What a disappointment! The sauce was bitter, and otherwise tasteless. I ended up removing the chicken, discarding the sauce and created on the whim my own grainy mustard sauce using homemade chicken stock (had in the freezer) which saved the day.

I followed the recipe EXACTLY - to a 'T'...from ingredients, all timing, all temperatures etc., however the tenderloin was overcooked to the point of being well-done!! How so very disappointing when so much time and effort was placed into this dish. My oven temperature is not askew, and my cooking skill levels are very experienced, so I am perlexed as to how these were so completley off the mark in terms of doneness given the time/temperatures of the recipe. The reviews were great - the recipe 'read' great - but the final result was a thumbs down. Too bad, I really was looking forward to this being a 'showstopper' as other reviewers have mentioned.

Re:Tex-Mex Chicken with Chiles and Cheese

Excellent mid week meal. Had to make this on my stove top as my oven broke down - worked out great in a covered skillet. After browning the chicken, I deglazed the pan with 1/2 cup chicken stock, then added the corn mixture. My family loved it. Served with sundried tomato wraps that I had cut into triangle shaped wedges and crisped in a pan with a bit of oil. A keeper recipe.
