Re:Best-Ever Rice Pudding

I have tried many rice pudding recipes over the years. This is not the "best-ever" by a long shot. It needs tinkering, it takes a long time to cook, and it's too sweet. By the time I make all the changes, it becomes a different recipe. To my delight, the Fine Cooking recipe "Classic Rice Pudding" (search on it here) is imo THE best-ever, just as written--creamy and rich, subtly sweet, easy, and delicious.

There is another recipe on this site called "Best-Ever Rice Pudding." It is not! THIS one is. Creamy, subtle sweetness, easy, and relatively quick. I have made it twice, and will toss out most of the other rice pudding recipes I've accumulated. I did on the second go-round sub in some half-and-half for half of the milk, for some additional decadent richness. Delicious, but not necessary.

Re:Glazed Orange Pound Cake

Finely textured, as the recipe promises. I made one change, because I wanted to up the orange flavor: Instead of using juice squeezed from the oranges, I used thawed orange juice concentrate. I'm glad I did because the orange flavor was delightful, but not overwhelming. I think it would have been 'weaker" with plain juice. Excellent cake, will make again. I expect that the flavor will even improve after 24 hours. I am also experimenting with freezing one loaf (I made two).

Re:Orange-Soaked Bundt Cake

This cake is one of my standbys, and it always gets compliments and requests for the recipe. I make it essentially as written. I use only 1/2 cup of confec sugar for the syrup. The texture is sturdy, as with most Bundt cakes. Before serving, I garnish it with chopped candied orange peel rather than additional glaze.The cake is incredibly moist, with strong orange flavor and they're not kidding when they say that the flavor and moistness greatly improves with time. A great alternative to chocolate cake for a holiday dessert.
