Re:Classic Potato Gratin

Needs a bit more zing. Perhaps a bit of cayenne or Dijon mustard.

Re:Deconstructed Pesto Pasta

Enjoyed this very much. I love pesto, but it often is so very rich. This take on the favorite is very delicious. I did 1/3 the recipe for two and we have leftovers.

Re:Mixed-Berry Jalousie

I made this last night to take to a picnic. Since we had our own fresh strawberries, I substituted the fresh for the mixed frozen berries. I did add an extra tsp. of cream of tarter to make sure the juice was thickened. I used the frozen Trader Joe's Puff Pastry with butter. I anticipated that the juice would leak out and be a mess, but it turned out beautifully. It looked georgeous and tasted delicious.

Re:Sirloin Steaks with Garlicky Swiss Chard

Prepared this with a Prime Rib Eye steak, which I cooked about 1 1/2 min per side. Used chard from our garden. Loved the flavor of the chard with the meat juices in the pan and the red wine along with the red wine vinegar.

Re:Ham Lo Mein with Shiitake and Snow Peas

Enjoyed this dish very much. Agreed with the earlier reviewer and I used pork loin which I marinaded in the soy, dry sherry, toasted sesame seed oil and added a shake of red pepper flakes. Also used fresh shitakes and chicken broth as a subsitute for the dried mushrooms. Used the garlic chili sauce and the dish was quite spicy, which is the way we like it. Will definitely make this again and depending on what I have available, will use pork, shrimp, or chicken breast, but never ham. Ham just doesn't sound appealing. Great noodle dish. Did take a fair amount of prep time, but then took just a few minutes to cook the dish.
