wow, perfecto!. The balsamic really heightens the flavor of the strawberries. I made one change which was to add a Tablespoon of vodka to the puree before churning , this was just enough to keep it scoop-able even after spending the night in the freezer.

Delicious! I was under the gun to make dessert for our Cinco de Mayo dinner. I managed to make it, bake it, let it cool, soak it, and then chill it and frost in just over 3 hours. It was a HUGE hit. I had to make a few minor changes based on what I had on hand. I used whole milk instead of cream for the soaking cream & instant espresso powder for the whipped cream instead of regular coffee. I only had 2 cups of heavy cream to whip for the topping, but it still came out rich and creamy and had a nice subtle coffee flavor. I don't even want to guess how many calories this comes out to but I would gladly spend an hour on the treadmill for a slice of this heavenly concoction.

Wow, Touchy readers. Did you rate it after reading or cooking? I'm of Irish descent and this tastes just as good as any my mothers family makes. I found this recipe by looking for a Colcannon with kale and green onions which was how I remembered it. I used a slightly different method using the same ingredients. I used the method I remember my mom using. making mashed potatoes with butter and half and half, then sauteed the scallions in butter then added the kale and a little water and let it steam for 5 minutes then mixed them all together .To serve I made the well in the center and added the melted butter. I garnished with bacon bits after reading about it other recipes, but it would have been just as delicious without it. I think it's one of those dishes that you can make with any number of variations, it's a great way to get your greens in .
