Make Ahead Tips
Make the pastry cream up to one day ahead and refrigerate, covered. The rum syrup and toasted almonds can also be made one day in advance.
Mine looked as pretty as the picture! I wish it had tasted as good as it looked. Pastry cream didn't have enough flavor for my taste & cake was kind of bland. But it looked impressive.
