Greens with Oranges and Sesame-Ginger Dressing

This simple green salad gets jazzed up with bright citrus and and addictive tangy sesame-ginger dressing.


  • 2 large navel or Cara Cara oranges
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 2 Tbs. rice vinegar
  • 1-1/2 Tbs. finely chopped fresh ginger
  • 1 Tbs. fresh lime juice
  • 1 Tbs. mirin
  • 1/2 tsp. Asian sesame oil
  • Kosher salt
  • 5 oz. spring greens
  • 1 cup halved cherry tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced sweet onion
  • Toasted or black sesame seeds


  • Segment the oranges, and cut the segments in half. Squeeze the membrane for 1/4 cup juice. Combine the juice, olive oil, vinegar, ginger, lime juice, mirin, sesame oil, and  1/2 tsp. salt in a blender, and purée until emulsified.
  • Toss the greens,  tomatoes, and onion with some of the dressing and the orange segments. Divide the salad among four plates, sprinkle with tnne sesame seeds, and serve with the remaining dressing.
