Candied Bacon


Serves two.

What's not to love about maple syrup-coated, brown sugar-crusted bacon? It adds a welcome sweet-and-salty note that makes any breakfast special.

  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 2 Tbs. plus 1 tsp. pure maple syrup
  • 1-1/2 Tbs. light brown sugar

Position a rack in the center of the oven and heat the oven to 425°F. Arrange the bacon slices on a rimmed baking sheet. Drizzle both sides with the maple syrup and then sprinkle both sides evenly with the sugar. Bake until browned and crisp, 20 to 22 minutes.

Too sweet and too crunchy and sticky. I'd rather brush maple syrup up on after I'd cooked the bacon.

Loved the simplicity of this dish! Quick, easy & very flavourful! I lined my baking sheet with tin foil & set the bacon on a rack that I sprayed with non stick cooking spray for easy cleanup. Be careful though if your syrup drips on the foil because t will smoke!
