8/6/2012I tried this using Valrhona cocoa powder and they were the best brownies ever -- fudgy without being dense and gummy, with an intense chocolate flavor! (At the advice of other reviewers, I also cut back on sugar a bit -- 1 1/2 c rather than 1 2/3) And here's a tip I learned in another recipe: after you take brownies out of oven, set the pan in a larger pan filled with ice water until the brownies cool. This stops any further cooking and makes the top of the brownies glossy.

6/16/2012i have made these probably over a hundred times - so simple and so amazing. My friend once commented that 'it's like you've made chocolate taste chocolatier' Great recipe!

1/2/2012Rich, fudgy, and chocolatey. Sprinkled an extra 1/2 cup of chocolate chips on top before baking. I am giving it 4 instead of 5 stars because the texture is a little granular, and flavor is very sweet. Will try again with less sugar and will possible stir over low heat while adding sugar to try to incorporate it a little better. With a little tweaking this will be the ultimate brownie recipe!

11/21/2009These were fabulous. Almost creamy. Definitely dreamy. The only thing I am going to do differently next time is cut down the sugar a bit. A little to sweet for me. This is a keeper!

9/23/2009These are some of my favorite brownies, and I'm very picky about my brownies. I usually add more chopped chocolate than I'm supposed to- they're always delicious!

10/7/2008So easy to make and very fudgy. I even accidentally poured in the flour before the sugar and it still turned out great!

8/21/2008It was terrific with bittersweet chocolate. I left out the nuts because my family doesn't like them. If you line the pan with nonstick foil, you can skip buttering the pan and it comes out of the pan in a flash.
