Five-Spice Rub

Try this rub, along with this sesame-soy sauce on grilled flank steak.

  • 2 Tbs. ground coriander
  • 4 tsp. five-spice powder
  • 3/4 tsp. ground fennel seed
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 2-1/4 tsp. hot chile powder
  • 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 2 Tbs. kosher salt
  • 1 Tbs. brown sugar

In a bowl, thoroughly blend all the spices with the salt and brown sugar; set aside. Store tightly covered in a cool, dry place; the mix will last a few months.
