Position an oven rack 6 inches from the broiler element and heat the broiler on high. Arrange the bread on a baking sheet and broil until golden on one side, 1 to 2 minutes. Flip the toasts. Spread the untoasted sides with the chutney, top with an even layer of pears, and then sprinkle with the cheddar. Broil just until the cheese is melted and starting to bubble, 1 to 2 minutes. Serve immediately.
