Over all it's a delicious and simple recipe.... with there was like a warning to go easy on the condensed milk if you're not really into sweet cake, so I would recommend to just add a third of the condensed milk to the soaking mixture and taste to see if you need more or if you should add heavy cream to cut out a bit of the sweetness BUT DELICIOUS
Moist, creamy, cool and delicious, this is a superb make ahead cake for a crowd. While there are many flavored variations of Tres Leches Cake, I'm a purist, and this cake is perfection.
I made this cake for Christmas dinner, and my family said it was the best dessert I have ever made! Super easy and sooo rich. The recipe makes far too much whipped cream though - I used less than half to top the cake.
I made this for one of my clients, they where very pleased. She said that it tasted just like her Hispanic grandmother would have made it.
