Black Orchid: Drink of the Day from Tales of the Cocktail

On my last night at Tales of the Cocktail, I ended up at a swanky party at the newly renovated (and utterly gorgeous) Roosevelt Hotel, sponsored by Grey Goose. The room was darkly lit, drinks were passed on sparkling platters, and everyone was having a great time. The pale lavender Black Orchid cocktail I drank there was like sweet-tart floral candy in a glass.

The Black Orchid
Serves one

1 1/4 parts Grey Goose L’Orange Flavored Vodka

1 part fresh lemon juice

3/4 part creme de violette

3/4 part simple syrup

1 dash peach bitters

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake as hard as you can for 7 to 10 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass and serve with an edible orchid or other flower.
